Along with Dylan Campbell to Philadelphia, LA adds bonus pool space in two trades, the bulk of which will be used to sign Roki Sasaki.
The Dodgers made another trade to secure extra international bonus pool space to bolster their signing bonus to Japanese sensation Roki Sasaki. On Friday they traded minor league outfielder Arnaldo Lantigua to the Reds.
Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reported the Dodgers received $1.5 million in international bonus pool space from Cincinnati. That’s in addition to the reported $750,000 or $1 million in bonus pool space the Dodgers got from the Phillies for outfielder Dylan Campbell.
At the outset of the 2025 international signing period, which began on Wednesday, the Dodgers were tied for the smallest bonus pool of any team, at $5,146,200. These trades give them at least roughly $7.4 million, and possibly over $7.6 million.
With Sasaki receiving a reported signing bonus of $6.5 million, that leaves room for some other potential international signings. Any bonuses over $10,000 during the international period, which runs through December 15, count against the pool.
The Dodgers signed Lantigua out of Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic in 2023 for a reported $700,000 signing bonus. He hit .301/.430/.575 with 11 home runs and seven doubles in 49 games in the Dominican Summer League last season, and had nearly as many walks (33) as strikeouts (34).
Lantigua just turned 19 in December.
