The Los Angeles Dodgers traded Minor League pitcher Joe Jacques to the Seattle Mariners for Will Klein.
It was part of a series of roster moves the Dodgers announced prior to Monday’s game against the New York Mets, as they also recalled Ryan Loutos and optioned Noah Davis to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Jacques signed a Minor League contract with the Dodgers during the offseason and was among their non-roster invitees to Spring Training.
The left-hander has spent the entire 2025 season to this point with Oklahoma City, where he went 1-1 with three saves, a 6.04 ERA and 1.61 WHIP in 18 games.
Jacques has prior MLB experience with the Boston Red Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks, though struggled to the tune of a 5.46 ERA, 4.90 FIP and 1.65 WHIP in 25 games.
Klein made his MLB debut in 2024 and allowed a combined nine runs in 7.1 innings between the Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics. In 22 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma this season, he was 2-0 with a 7.17 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 21.1 innings.
Over parts of five Minor League seasons, Klein is 13-9 with a 5.34 ERA in 175 games. Klein was drafted by the Royals in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB Draft..
<Dodgers DFA Chris Stratton for Will Klein trade
To make room for Klein on their 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated Chris Stratton for assignment.
Stratton had previously been DFA’d and released by the Royals this season. He signed with the Dodgers on May 25 and joined their active roster that day. Stratton made just two appearances for L.A., with both coming against the New York Yankees on back-to-back days.
Stratton allowed one run in each appearance and pitched a total of three innings.
