After the Dodgers completed a series win against the Giants with a 5–4 victory on Sunday, their turned their attention to their next National League West foe.
The Dodgers announced Shohei Ohtani will be the starting pitcher against the Padres on Monday. It will be Ohtani’s Dodger pitching debut. Ohtani last pitched on Aug. 23, 2023, with the Angels. He underwent right elbow surgery in September 2023.
“My guess is probably an inning to start,” said manager Dave Roberts. “I think that the live simulations have sort of run its course. He’s ready to make his debut on the mound.”

The news of Ohtani’s pitching debut came hours after the Giants traded for three-time All-Star Rafael Devers. Left-hander Kyle Harrison was the Giants’ original Sunday starter but was scratched 15 minutes before the first pitch as he was part of the deal with the Red Sox.
Andy Pages was difference-maker for the Dodgers. His three-run homer in the fifth was the edge the Dodgers needed to give them a two-game lead in the division.
“It was a great series, (it’s) a good team over there,” Pages said. “Great to come through in that moment, but it was a home run for my dad who I haven’t seen in a long time.”

Since April 22, Pages leads the Dodgers with 41 RBI. He tied his home run (13) and RBI (46) totals from his 2024 rookie season.
Pages pushed in the Dodgers’ first run on a sacrifice fly to right in the first. It was followed by Tommy Edman’s 10th homer in the second, which extended their lead to 2–0.
“(Andy’s) huge. He’s had such a good year up to this point,” Edman said. “He’s done a really good job of having good at-bats and being clutch when we need it.”

“Dustin got in a little traffic there in the fourth but (he found a way), as he has shown, to still manage to get through six (for us) to use the guys we wanted to and win a ball game.” Roberts said.
