Now that the Friday fireworks from Astros bats are finally over, let’s head into Saturday morning after the Dodgers’ most-lopsided loss ever at Dodger Stadium.
Ben Casparius was the first to get torched on Friday, allowing seven extra-base hits and six runs in his three innings. He’s likely headed back to the bullpen after an extended run as a starter and stretched-out bulk reliever, with Emmet Sheehan likely returning Sunday and Tyler Glasnow possibly rejoining the rotation on the road trip.
Sonja Chen at MLB.com has more on the Dodgers rotation plans, as does Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register after Friday night’s blowout loss.
Though initially feared to possibly be out for the season, the Dodgers got good news Thursday with Max Muncy only expected to miss six or so weeks with a bone bruise in his left knee. Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times has more on how that news affects the Dodgers’ trade deadline plans, as well as how the Dodgers plan to use Tommy Edman more at third base with Muncy out, which likely means more playing time for Hyeseong Kim as well.
