The Dodgers have traded for Amed Rosario ahead of the Major League Baseball trade deadline for the second year in a row.
The Dodgers acquired the 28-year-old shortstop from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for right-handed pitcher Michael Flynn.
Rosario was also acquired last July 26 for right-handed pitcher Noah Syndergaard.
The infielder is batting .307/.331/.417/.748 with two homers and 26 RBI in 76 games for the Rays. He is hitting .316 vs. left-handers and .301 vs. right-handers.
He slashed .256/.301/.408 with the Dodgers last season in 133 plate appearances.
He is in his eighth Major League season with New York (2017–20), Cleveland (2021–23), Los Angeles (2023) and Tampa Bay (2024), hitting .275/.310/.401/.711 with 62 homers and 360 RBI.
The Dodgers designated left-handed pitcher Ryan Yarbrough for assignment to make room for Rosario on the 40-man roster. Yarbrough appeared in 32 games for the Dodgers this year and had a 3.74 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 67 1/3 innings.
Flynn, 27, was 2–1 with a 4.95 ERA in 28 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City. In five minor league seasons, he was a combined 6–9 with a 6.20 ERA in 97 games (10 starts).
