The future is now…almost. The participants for the MLB All-Star Futures Game have been announced, and Los Angeles Dodgers prospects Zyhir Hope and Josue De Paula were selected to play in the showcase of talent, according to Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. The Dodgers are known for their deep farm system, and Hope and De Paula, who are teammates for the High-A Great Lakes Loons, are the latest to catch scouts’ attention. Now, they will be on the biggest stage yet.

Hope, De Paula Selected as Dodgers Reps in Futures Game
Bound for the Big Leagues?
Josue De Paula is now the Dodgers’ number one prospect. He replaced Dalton Rushing, who is the Dodgers’ backup catcher behind Will Smith. De Paula, who has been with the Dodgers organization for four years, has risen quickly in the ranks thanks to his ability to hit for power and average. He has 10 home runs so far this season. But just as impressive is how far they are hit. Not only that, the outfielder has a .269 batting average to further underscore his offensive value.

Hope Springs Eternal
For his part, Zyhir Hope ranks as the Dodgers’ No. 2 prospect. He got an extended look in spring training this year. Not only did he show off his offensive prowess, but he also displayed some nifty glove work. Consequently, he was one of the last players optioned when the Dodgers broke camp. Currently, he is hitting a sparkling .295 with nine home runs and 31 runs batted in. The 20-year-old has only been in the Los Angeles organization for two years.
Parades Over Prospects?
These two young outfielders underscore the Dodgers’ ability to spot and draft talent. It is well known that President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman is loath to part with high-ranking prospects. At the same time, the Dodgers have made it clear that they want a shot at another ring. If the Dodgers have a glaring need as they approach the trade deadline, it will be intriguing to see if the asking price includes De Paula or Hope. For now, these two prospects have a chance to open more eyes during the Futures Game.
