Cactus League play begins on Thursday at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona, with the Dodgers hosting the Cubs.
Dodgers baseball is back, and on Thursday they and the Cubs have the entire schedule to themselves. Those two teams start a little bit earlier in spring training because they open the regular season against one another at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
Thursday’s game is at Camelback Ranch, with a 12:05 p.m. PT start. The two teams will meet again on Friday in Mesa, but by then other MLB teams will have begun their Cactus League slates.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start opening day for the Dodgers in Japan, and he’ll also be the first Los Angeles pitcher on the mound on Thursday in Arizona. But this is early in spring training and no pitchers really last that long, so expect a parade of arms to the mound.
Cody Poteet starts on the mound for Chicago. The right-hander’s Six Degrees of Dodgers number is two, as Poteet was traded by the Yankees to the Cubs in December for Cody Bellinger.
SportsNet LA will televise this game, as well as every game but one this spring training. Tim Neverett and Rick Monday will be on the call for all Dodgers Cactus League games in Arizona. The SportsNet LA telecast will be simulcast on AM 570. The Spanish-language broadcast team is on site for the first five games in Arizona, with those available on KTNQ 1020 AM.
MLB Network will also simulcast the game, though that broadcast will be blacked out in the Los Angeles market.
