Third game of the four-game series has Emmet Sheehan making his first start of the season for LA, facing Stephen Kolek for San Diego
The Dodgers’ series against the Padres is a big one for starting pitchers returning to the mound after Tommy John surgery. Emmet Sheehan takes the ball on Wednesday night in the third game of the four-game series between divisional rivals.
Sheehan isn’t quite fully built up just yet, topping out at 3 innings and 63 pitches during the Triple-A portion of his rehab assignment. But he should be able to take a good chunk of Wednesday’s innings, unlike Shohei Ohtani’s uniquely abbreviated situation on Monday night.
Stephen Kolek starts for the Padres, having successfully transitioned from a reliever last season (all 42 appearances came out of the bullpen) to a 3.50 ERA in eight starts for the right-hander this season.
