The third game of this weekend series between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks starts 90 minutes earlier than the first two games, with a 5:10 p.m. PT start on Saturday night at Chase Field in Arizona.
Corbin Burnes is scheduled to make his start, after getting scratched from a planned Monday start this week with shoulder inflammation, for which he received a cortisone injection. The former Cy Young Award winner is expected to make his start on Saturday against the Dodgers, per Jesse Borek at MLB.com:
“Yeah, did it suck I didn’t get to pitch [on Monday]? Yes, but I’ve got more value to the team skipping a start and making sure I’m healthy for the rest of the year than continuing to push through and have something pop up where I miss two or three months,” Burnes said. “So there’s always kind of that bigger picture when you’re talking about it.”
Shohei Ohtani is 3-for-6 with a home run in his career against Burnes. Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman are each 3-for-9 against Burnes, Betts with a double and a hit by pitch, and Freeman with three walks.
Dustin May starts for the Dodgers.
