The first meeting of the season between the Dodgers and Reds comes Monday night at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, a battle between the former division mates in the National League West from 1968-1993.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto gets the start for the Dodgers, making his second career start in Cincinnati. He struck out eight in five innings last May 26, but allowed for four runs to take the loss, his last defeat of the season.
Rookie Chase Burns, the second-overall pick in the 2024 draft, makes his sixth major league start for the Reds on Monday. He’s been all over the place during his first five starts, striking out 35 percent of his batters faced, including 10 strikeouts in each of his last two starts. But he allowed six runs in his last start and seven runs in another, and has a 6.65 ERA thus far for his first 21⅔ major league innings.
The Reds swept the Dodgers in Cincinnati last season and won the season series against Los Angeles, four games to three.
