Dustin May will take the mound in a major league game for the first time in 685 days on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium against Chris Sale and at Atlanta
Dustin May takes the mound for his first start of 2025 on Tuesday night, when the Dodgers take on the Braves in the middle contest of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium.
It’ll be the first major league game for May in 685 days, since May 17, 2023. Since then he had flexor tendon repair in his right elbow and a revision of his 2021 Tommy John surgery, and then last July had an esophageal tear that cut short his rehab. It’s been a long time coming for May, who had a solid spring training, who last pitched in last Tuesday’s Freeway Series finale at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
“It was really, really good to get back on a big league field, to feel the energy, feel the stands, and just get back into actual like a big-league game type of feel,” May told reporters after that outing, in which he struck out six in five innings, allowing only one run on one hit.
The Dodgers will face their second reigning Cy Young Award winner in six days when Chris Sale takes the mound for Atlanta. Last Thursday, the Dodgers faced and beat Tarik Skubal of the Tigers, thanks to a three-run home run by Teoscar Hernández in the fifth inning.
Sale started opening day for Atlanta, getting a no-decision in San Diego with seven strikeouts in five innings, allowing three runs.
