It took the Dodgers every last inning to get the job done against the Giants in the National League Divison Series. After the 2 NL West teams battled it out all season long for the top spot in the division, they gave baseball fans what they wanted.
The pitching dominated in Game 5 to the point where fans were on the edge of their seat for every ball and strike called. The Dodgers started things out with Corey Knebel and would hand the ball of to Brusdar Graterol before bringing in Julio Urias.
Ultimately, the Dodgers offense came through late and got the win. But that doesn’t mean they’re ready to dance in the street and call this season a win. Mookie Betts spoke after the game about what the win meant and how the Dodgers would proceed.
I think this is just step 1 to our final goal. We can be happy right now, but I’m of the mindset that you’ve got to turn the page and be ready for the next series. You cant celebrate until you can hold up that World Series trophy.
Max Scherzer made sure to add that the Dodgers “can party hard tonight” after Mookie‘s comment. and boy did the Dodgers ever part. The pictures that followed the Game 5 win were the stuff of legends with Scherzer storming the field without a shirt and soaked in beer.

But this is just step 1. The Dodgers will head out tomorrow to Atlanta to take on the Braves in a best-of-7 series. And while that series is on everyone’s mind at the moment, they rightfully took their time to celebrate a hard-fought win.
