Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Let Fandom Take Over When Miguel Rojas Hit Game-Tying Home Run In Game 7 Of 2025 World Series

February 1, 2026 by Dodger Blue

The Los Angeles Dodgers were on the brink of being defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series before Miguel Rojas accounted for one of the most memorable moments in franchise history.

With the Dodgers down to their final two outs, Rojas hit a game-tying home run off Jeff Hoffman that evened the score at four apiece. L.A. went on to win, 5-4, in 11 innings to repeat as World Series champions.

It was an unlikely contribution that jolted every Dodgers player and coach in the dugout. Manager Dave Roberts couldn’t help but put his hands over his head in disbelief as Rojas was rounding the bases.

During an interview with Bob Costas on MLB Network, Roberts said he let his fandom take over after one of the most improbable home runs in Dodgers history:

“I think I do a pretty good job of separating fandom, being a fan, and managing a ballclub. But I think in that moment, I just turned into a fan. A Miguel Rojas, a Dodger fan, and I was just thanking the Lord for this great moment and thanking him for giving Miguel this great moment in his career.”

Rojas had hit only one home run in the postseason before his game-tying blast against the Blue Jays, making it all the more special for the veteran infielder and his teammates.

Rojas became the first player in MLB history to hit a game-tying homer in the ninth inning or later of a World Series Game 7.

The home run was even more significant considering Rojas nearly missed the contest due to a rib injury.

Tommy Edman said earlier this offseason that Rojas’ home run is one of the most iconic moments in World Series history and believes no player deserved it more.

Miguel Rojas playing one final season with Dodgers

The Dodgers re-signed Rojas to a one-year, $5.5 million contract for the 2026 season that is set to be the final big league campaign of his playing career.

After retiring next year, Rojas plans to immediately join the Dodgers front office and assist them in player development.
