The Los Angeles Dodgers are headed back to the National League Championship Series after a crazy 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 4 of the NLDS. This was an intense series with great pitching and plenty of nail-biter moments.
A Game Filled with Tension
The tension peaked in Game 4, from the first pitch to the very last. Every at-bat felt important, and every out mattered. It was a true pitchers’ duel.
Tyler Glasnow Dominates on the Mound
Dodgers game 4 starter Tyler Glasnow was in complete control. His fastball exploded through the strike zone while painting the corners with his other pitches. He went deep into the game, striking out eight batters while only giving up two hits, proving that, when healthy, he is one of the best arms on the Dodgers roster. The bullpen took over and kept the momentum going. Every reliever pitched with great confidence.
The Phillies matched the Dodgers’ energy. Cristopher Sánchez was just as impressive as he was in Game 1 of the series. He mixed in all of his pitches, keeping the Dodgers guessing all night. Sánchez never flinched, and the Phillies’ relievers carried the effort into extra innings.
Game 4 was especially stressful for the fans at the bottom of the 11th. The bases were loaded, with two outs, when Andy Pages hit a soft comebacker right to Kerkering. It looked like an easy out. The Phillies were one throw away from forcing extra innings. Kerkering threw home instead of going to first, but the throw went wide. Pinch-runner Hyeseong Kim ran home with the winning run. Dodger Stadium erupted. The Dodgers sprinted out of the dugout as the Phillies froze in disbelief.
Dodgers’ Legacy of Consistency
For the Dodgers, the win adds another chapter to their legacy. It’s their eighth NLCS appearance in thirteen years. They came to reaffirm why they are considered one of the most consistent teams in the league. Mookie Betts, Andy Pages, Tyler Glasnow, Alex Vesia, and the strong bullpen supported the starting pitching. Even when the bats are quiet, the Dodgers find a way to win.
Every player had a big role in their win. Freeman had key at-bats and played a strong first base. Betts reached base multiple times and set up scoring opportunities. Pages stayed calm in one of the biggest moments of this season. The mix of experience and youth makes this team dangerous.
The Phillies fought as hard as they could to beat the Dodgers. They played hard until the final pitch. Harper and Turner battled at the plate, and the pitching staff gave everything it had. But in the postseason, one mistake can change everything.
Now the Dodgers move on to the NLCS to face the Brewers. After winning the 2024 World Series, they are eager to claim another title.
