The Los Angeles Dodgers have called up right-hander Edgardo Henriquez from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Reliever Brock Stewart was seen leaving the Dodgers’ clubhouse in street clothes, and is likely headed to the IL. Manager Dave Roberts revealed that Stewart has shoulder inflammation. He will undergo further evaluation tomorrow.

Henriquez has a mínimum amount of major league experience this year as he began the season on the IL due to an off-the-field incident. In his abbreviated time with Los Angeles this year, he has appeared in three games. Over two and 1/3 innings, he hasn’t allowed a run and has one strikeout. This will be the young hurler’s second stint with Los Angeles this season, after making his major league debut last year at the end of 2024.

The Dodgers acquired Brock Stewart at the trade deadline in exchange for outfielder James Outman. This is Stewart’s second tour with the Dodgers. The right-hander came up with the organization as a starting pitcher with mixed results and a high walk rate. However, after a bit of travel with a few teams and independent ball, he was converted to a reliever. This has led to a much better success rate as he has added velocity to his fastball. As a result, he became a trusted reliever for the Minnesota Twins in high-leverage situations, specifically against right-handed batters.
Here’s the Catch
That success has yet to materialize in a Dodger uniform. In four appearances, he has allowed two earned runs in three and 2/3 innings. This translates to a 4.91 ERA. It is unknown whether his struggles with control are related to the current injury. However, Stewart has missed significant time due to problems with his elbow and shoulder before. For what it is worth, the right-hander has already surpassed his highest inning total since 2019.
This is another blow to a team that has struggled since July 4th with a 12-19 record. Will the Dodgers right the ship? Or will they flounder until October.
