The Los Angeles Dodgers have called up Justin Wrobleski from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium tonight, according to manager Dave Roberts. In an interview with MLB Network Radio, Roberts revealed that some starters “aren’t feeling too great,” and need extra rest.

Dodgers Call Up Justin Wrobleski
Other Options
It was rumored that Bobby Miller would be the starter, but he has been ineffective in his rehab starts with an ERA of almost 6.00. In addition, he has been dealing with an abductor injury that cut his time on the mound short. However, Miller is said to be on the “taxi squad” this weekend in case the Dodgers need coverage.
A bullpen game, an option earlier in the season, isn’t now. The Dodgers gave up runs late in back-to-back games against the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field this week.
Dave Roberts said earlier this week that Tyler Glasnow would be pushed back from his next start to give him rest. Glasnow has surpassed the number of innings he has ever pitched a season. Los Angeles needs him sharp for the stretch run and the postseason.
Help on the Way
Yoshinobu Yamamoto met the team in St. Louis today and threw in front of Dave Roberts and pitching coach Mark Prior. The Dodgers expect the Japanese hurler’s imminent return, but have not set a date yet.
However, Tommy Edman will join the roster on Monday. Max Muncy will follow on Tuesday. Both have been on rehab assignments in Oklahoma City for the past week.
Stop Gap Measure
The Dodgers are hoping that Wrobleski can give them some innings tonight. In his last start in the majors, the right-hander went 5 2/3 innings against the Houston Astros. He gave up two earned runs. The Dodgers would be happy with a quality start like that. Every win is important now as the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres are just two games back in the National League West.
