Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and other Dodgers stars are included in the 350-card set that kicks off Topps’ 2025 baseball card series
It’s that time of year when the first batch of Topps baseball cards come out, so let’s look at some cards from Series 1 this year. The 350-card set includes 17 Dodgers cards.
Here’s a look at Topps baseball cards from 2023 and 2024 as well, for comparison.
I got my hands on most of the Dodgers 2025 cards in this set, all except three Shohei Ohtani league leader cards. I did get the standard-issue Ohtani card, which earned the coveted No. 1 card in the set.

A white border surrounds each card, and the team is denoted twice — with the logo on the bottom left corner and by name along the left side of the card. The problem is the lettering has a white border with no filling, and is situated in front of a tri-color background, making the team name nearly unreadable.
Another problem is with the silver bordering mixed in, depending on how the card is angled the last name of the player can be hard to read.
The card backs are clean and readable. Veteran stars like Clayton Kershaw and Freddie Freeman give us a glimpse of how the red ink to signify league leaders really stands out.

In addition to Ohtani, Freeman, and Kershaw, other Dodgers star players included in this Series 1 set are Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Will Smith.
Yamamoto’s card has the classic Topps “Future Stars” designation, while cards for River Ryan, Justin Wrobleski, and Hunter Feduccia have an “RC” logo on the front to signify a rookie card.

On the Dodgers team card, the back lists some team leaders in various statistics, plus an overview of the season. But there’s an error.
Topps noted that Ohtani hit at least 40 home runs for the fourth time in the last five seasons, but in reality he has done so in three of the last four years. But if Ohtani hits 40-plus home runs in 2025, you heard it here first.
