PHILADELPHIA — The Dodgers will go with a left-handed heavy pitching staff for their National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Clayton Kershaw and Anthony Banda were added to the roster submitted by the Dodgers on Saturday, giving them six left-handers among the 11 pitchers they will carry for the best-of-five series that begins Saturday at Citizens Bank Park.
Kershaw and Banda join Jack Dreyer, Tanner Scott and Alex Vesia in the bullpen. A sixth left-hander, Blake Snell, will start Game 2. The five left-handed relievers give Dodgers manager Dave Roberts options to match up with Phillies sluggers Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper.
Right-hander Edgardo Henriquez and left-hander Justin Wrobleski were dropped from the roster.
The Dodgers will continue to carry three catchers (Will Smith, Dalton Rushing and Ben Rortvedt) as well as outfielder Justin Dean and infielder Hyeseong Kim.
