Ace-Like When Healthy
Tyler Glasnow has been on the sidelines since late April with a shoulder issue. The right-hander had been working on his mechanics in the offseason in hopes of avoiding the elbow injuries that have plagued him in the past. He has had multiple minor league outings, so he is ready to return to the Majors. It appears he is ready to go. Glasnow has always had electric stuff. His repertoire is filthy, as evidenced by the first half of the 2024 campaign. He anchored the Dodger starting rotation with a sub-3.00 Earned Run Average and was among the league leaders in strikeouts. However, he has never pitched above 140 innings without getting hurt. Glasnow had elbow tendonitis in July last year and never returned. The Dodgers are hoping that the right-hander can avoid the injury bug for the rest of 2025.
A Cause for Concern?
In order to make room for Glasnow on the 40-man roster, Los Angeles has transferred right-handed reliever Michael Kopech to the 60-day IL. Kopech has been dealing with right knee inflammation. The Dodgers were hoping it was a minor issue that could be resolved with a few days’ rest. Apparently not. The right-hander was the steal of last year’s trade deadline and was a reliable high-leverage reliever, featuring an ERA of around 1.00.
The I.L. Taketh and Giveth
Blake Snell and Blake Treinen are scheduled to begin rehab assignments today and tomorrow. Manager Dave Roberts said he expects them to rejoin the club sometime after the All-Star Break.
The Dodgers could use all the help they can get after losing five in a row.
