6’10 RHP Gervase made his major league debut in June, had one of the best strikeout-minus-walk rate in minors. Catcher Hunter Feduccia sent to Tampa Bay in the deal. Catcher Ben Rortvedt and pitcher Adam Serwinowski, both minor leaguers, come to the Dodgers.
The Dodgers made their first deal of the trade deadline, acquiring pitcher Paul Gervase and two others for catcher Hunter Feduccia in a three-team trade involving the Reds and Rays, per multiple reports.
Gervase and Feduccia are the two 40-man roster players concerning the Dodgers in the deal, with Gervase taking Feduccia’s spot. The Dodgers also received catcher Ben Rortvedt from the Rays and pitcher Adam Serwinowski from the Reds.

The trade was finalized on Thursday morning.
The Gervase made his major league debut with the Rays on June 21, and in his five games with Tampa Bay allowed three runs in 6⅓ innings, with five walks and six strikeouts. The 25-year-old was a 12th-round draft pick of the Mets in 2022 out of LSU, and was also traded at last year’s deadline by New York to Tampa Bay.
In Triple-A Durham this season, Gervase had a 3.12 ERA and four saves in 27 games, with 63 strikeouts and only 12 walks in 40⅓ innings. That 31.7-percent strikeout-minus-walk rate is fifth-best in the entire minor leagues among pitchers with at least 30 innings.
If the 6’10 Gervase pitches for the Dodgers, he’ll be the tallest player in franchise history, one inch taller than left-hander and former NBA player Mark Hendrickson.
Gervase has only been optioned once this season to date, his first option year.
Feduccia played in seven games with the Dodgers between this season and last, but the 28-year-old was behind Will Smith and former top prospect Dalton Rushing on the catching depth chart. Feduccia hit .290/.399/.467 with 14 doubles, nine home runs, and four triples in 79 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season.
Rortvedt has played in parts of four seasons in the majors, including 26 games this year sof the Rays. The 27-year-old replaces Feduccia on the Dodgers catching depth chart, but does so off the 40-man roster as he was sent outright to Triple-A on June 1.
Serwinowski was a 15th-round draft pick of the Reds out of high school in 2022. The 21-year-old left-hander this season had a 4.84 ERA in 18 games (17 starts) for High-A Dayton, with 92 strikeouts and 39 walks in 74⅓ innings, with a 27.7-percent strikeout rate.
