Dodger home attendance hits 4 million milestone

by Mark Langill
When the Dodgers landed in their new Southern California home in 1958, the first home game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum — featuring the longtime New York rivals Dodgers and Giants — drew a record Opening Day crowd of 78,672.
From the eras of Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale to Clayton Kershaw and Shohei Ohtani, loyal fan support has become a ballpark staple, along with the warm-weather climate and Dodger Dogs.
Nearly seven decades later, after the franchise arrived on the West Coast, the Dodgers celebrated in 2025 their latest milestone by drawing 4 million fans in home attendance for the first time in franchise history.
The Dodgers wrapped up the 2025 regular season with a total attendance figure of 4,012,470, an average of 49,537 fans per game.
In 1978, Los Angeles became the first MLB franchise to draw 3 million.
The previous Dodger single-season record was in 2019, when the Dodgers drew 3,974,309.
Of the top 20 National League attendance marks entering the 2025 season, the Dodgers had 13 spots on the list.
In 1982, the Dodgers set a then-MLB record with 3,608,881 fans. The National League implemented a new attendance counting system in 1993. Through the 1992 season, attendance figures in the NL were counted by the number of fans in attendance. The American League counted tickets sold. Both leagues currently count the total number of tickets sold.
The 2019 Dodgers ranked third on the all-time single-season attendance list behind the 1993 NL expansion Colorado Rockies (4,483,350) and the 2008 New York Mets, who drew 4,042,045 in their final season at Shea Stadium.
From 1973 to 2019, the Dodgers set an MLB record by drawing at least 2 million fans in 47 consecutive seasons.
In 2005, the Dodgers were honored by the Guinness Book of World Records as having “the highest cumulative attendance for a baseball franchise” dating back to 1901.
