Miller has a 5.63 ERA and 15.2-percent walk rate in the minors this season. Now he’ll pitch exclusively in relief. “This might be something that unlocks him,” manager Dave Roberts told reporters at Fenway Park on Sunday.
A sleepy Sunday in the Dodgers minors saw one of the four affiliates notch a victory.
Player of the day
Bobby Miller officially moved to the Oklahoma City bullpen this weekend, in an attempt to salvage a rough season and possibly revive his career. He allowed a run on three hits with one strikeout in his one inning on Sunday, and did average 99.2 mph on his six fastballs, up a tick and a half from his season average.
On the season, Miller has a 5.63 ERA in 70⅓ innings with Oklahoma City, with nearly as many walks (49) as strikeouts (58). His 15.2-percent walk rate in Triple-A this season is nearly double his career rates both in the majors (8.1 percent) and minors (8.3 percent through 2024).
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts addressed Miller moving to relief earlier Sunday at Fenway Park in Boston.
Dave Roberts said Bobby Miller will be transitioned to a relief pitcher in OKC:
“This might be something that unlocks him, going hard for a shorter period of time to get some confidence for him which could help us here.” #Dodgers

Triple-A Oklahoma City
A three-run fifth off Comets starter Landon Knack put the Reno Aces (D-backs) ahead for good.
Ryan Ward had an RBI single in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to 18 games, a career best. Ward leads all of the minors with 94 RBI.
Double-A Tulsa
Catcher Nelson Quiroz hit a two-run single in the sixth inning to turn a deficit into a Drillers win over the Springfield Cardinals.
Patrick Copen needed 78 pitches to get through his four innings, thanks in part to three walks. But he also struck out five and allowed only one earned run, and an unearned run as well.
Carson Hobbs pitched two perfect innings in relief with a pair of strikeouts, his second scoreless appearance since getting promoted to Double-A on Wednesday, totaling 3⅓ innings. Hobbs, the Dodgers’ 11th-round draft pick in 2023 out of Samford, this season has a 2.14 ERA in 33⅔ innings with a 31.7-percent strikeout rate between High-A and Double-A.
Jerming Rosario followed with two scoreless innings, and Antonio Knowles got the save with a perfect ninth inning.
High-A Great Lakes
Only four of 31 Loons batters reached base in a shutout loss to the Beloit Sky Carp (Marlins).
Great Lakes managed only one hit in seven innings off Beloit right-hander Brandon White. It was a single to lead off the first inning by Kendall George, who promptly stole second, his 55th steal of the season. George has stolen a base in 11 of his last 12 games, with 19 total steals in that time.
After George’s single, White retired the next 21 Loons batters in a row, with five strikeouts.
Low-A Rancho Cucamonga
A six-run sixth gave the Quakes a home loss to the Visalia Rawhide (D-backs).
Ching-Hsien Ko walked twice and singled twice out of the leadoff spot, driving in a run. Through his first three games in Low-A the 18-year-old outfielder has reached base nine times in 14 plate appearances.
