Perfect first inning in Treinen’s first game action in nearly three months. Also Wednesday in the minors, a strong start for Jackson Ferris, an on-base streak for Griffin Lockwood-Powell, and Ronan Kopp making his Triple-A debut.
Dodgers pitcher Blake Treinen began a minor league rehab assignment with a perfect first inning on Wednesday night for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Treinen, in his first game action since April 13, struck out his first two batters swinging then induced a groundout to third base to complete his 12-pitch frame. The right-hander is on the 60-day injured list with right forearm tightness.
Player of the day
Jackson Ferris is starting to put things together for Double-A Tulsa, with his second start of six innings and seven strikeouts in his last three outings. He allowed a run in the first inning on Wednesday but retired 14 straight before a sixth-inning single.

Ferris only walked one, the fewest of his last four starts, during which he has a 1.75 ERA with 24 strikeouts and 13 walks in 20⅔ innings.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
Treinen’s rehab start was the beginning of a bullpen game, and six Comets pitchers combined to allow just one run in a win over the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (Astros).
Noah Davis followed Treinen with three strikeouts in three scoreless innings. The only run was scored off Nick Frasso, who allowed two singles and two walks in the seventh inning.
Left-hander Ronan Kopp pitched a perfect ninth inning with one strikeout to earn the save in his Triple-A debut.
Right fielder Jose Ramos singled home the first run for Oklahoma City in the third inning, his first hit and RBI in Triple-A.
Double-A Tulsa
Ferris set the tone on the mound, and the Drillers spread out three single runs to beat the Arkansas Travelers (Mariners).
First baseman Kyle Nevin had two hits, including a first-inning RBI single to open the scoring. Third baseman Taylor Young doubled, walked, stole a base, and scored two of the three Tulsa runs out of the leadoff spot.
Catcher Griffin Lockwood-Powell drove home the final run with a fifth-inning single that extended his on-base streak to 36 straight games, during which he’s hitting 289/.424/.375 with as many walks (30) as strikeouts. Tulsa says that’s tied with second baseman/catcher Yeiner Fernandez’s 2024 streak for the longest franchise streak of the last 17 seasons.
High-A Great Lakes
Inclement weather postponed the Loons game against the Lansing Lugnuts (A’s). The two teams will attempt a doubleheader of two seven-inning games on Thursday.
Low-A Rancho Cucamonga
Three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth sent the Quakes to a loss to the Inland Empire 66ers (Angels).
Mairoshendrick Martinus had his second strong night in a row with a two-run home run in his two-hit, three-run game.
Eduardo Quintero tripled, singled, and scored a run. Elijah Hainline walked twice and stole a base, the latter making him the sixth Quakes player with at least 20 steals this season. Rancho Cucamonga leads the California League with 206 steals in 82 games, 68 more than any other team in the circuit.
In all of the minor leagues, only the Beloit Sky Carp (219 steals), the Marlins’ High-A affiliate in the Midwest League, and Lynchburg Hillcats (216), the Guardians’ Low-A affiliate in the Carolina League, have more steals than the Quakes.
After a three-week break on the development list, Christian Zazueta was activated off the development list to start. He allowed a solo home run, walked two, and struck out four in his first game back, and was pulled after 42 pitches and 1⅔ innings.
