The Dodgers brought back Blake Treinen to the back end of a very good bullpen, signing the veteran free-agent reliever to a two-year contract worth $22 million on December 10, 2024.
Treinen was limited to only … combined innings between the majors and minors in 2022-23 with shoulder injuries that included surgery in November 2022. But he rebounded to post a 1.93 ERA in 50 games in 2024, with 56 strikeouts and 11 walks in 46⅔ innings.
In the postseason, Treinen led the entire Dodgers pitching staff — not just relievers — with 18 strikeouts, and posted a 2.19 ERA with three saves and two wins in his nine postseason games. Treinen saved the clinching games in the NLDS and NLCS, when recorded seven outs in a scoreless appearance to earn the win in Game 5 of the World Series, which clinched the championship for the Dodgers.
Treinen has won two titles in his five years with the Dodgers, with a 2.29 ERA in 149⅔ innings over 154 games, with 169 strikeouts and 45 walks. The 10-year veteran turns 37 in June.
The right-hander’s contract with the Dodgers includes a $5 million signing bonus, with salaries of $6 million in 2025 and $11 million in 2026.
