Blake Snell was dominant in the fourth start of his rehab assignment as he crossed the finish line before returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers rotation.
Making a second consecutive start for Triple-A Oklahoma City, the left-hander did not allow a hit over 4.2 scoreless innings while facing the Reno Aces (Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate) on Saturday. Snell collected seven strikeouts, but walked four batters and threw nearly as many balls (36) as strikes (40).
Despite his command being shaky at times, Snell still reached his goal of stretching out to around 75 pitches and five innings on the mound.
Manager Dave Roberts said the 32-year-old is now slated to make his return to the Dodgers and start during their series against the Tampa Bay Rays, via Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic:
Blake Snell’s expected to rejoin the rotation next turn.
Snell is lined up to face the Tampa Bay Rays as early as Friday, which will be his first start at the Major League level since April 2. He has spent most of the 2025 season on the injured list due to left shoulder inflammation.
Snell made four starts at the Minor League level over the duration of his rehab assignment that began on July 10. He pitched once for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and the Arizona Complex League Dodgers before appearing in two games with the Comets.
In the four rehab starts, Snell posted a 1.32 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with 24 strikeouts against five walks across 13.2 innings.
Blake Snell’s career with Rays
Snell is set to make his Dodgers return against a Rays team that he spent the first five seasons of his career with and won the 2018 American League Cy Young Award.
Snell went 42-30 with a 3.24 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 10.5 strikeouts per nine in 556 innings as a member of the Rays. He paired with Tyler Glasnow to lead their rotation in 2020, when the Rays faced the Dodgers in the World Series.
Now Snell and Glasnow are poised to resume their season as Dodgers teammates.
