Andrew Friedman: Dodgers Roster ‘Feels Pretty Well Set’

January 24, 2026 by Dodger Blue

The Los Angeles Dodgers have enjoyed another wildly successful offseason after signing two of the top free agents in Kyle Tucker and Edwin Díaz.

Tucker fills an important need in the outfield while Díaz gives the team their first dedicated closer since Kenley Jansen.

There has been speculation that the Dodgers could look to make additional big moves between now and the start of Spring Training, but president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman is happy with where the roster stands.

“It feels pretty well set,” Friedman said of the Dodgers roster. “I think there’s still some things we’re kicking around, some conversations that have been ongoing for a little bit that we’re going to continue to look to enhance and build up depth.

“We talked about this last year around this time, but our goal is to do everything we can to put ourselves in position to not be on the buy side in July. In fact, if we can have enough depth where we can even trade some, that would be ideal.

“But that rarely comes together. So yeah, there’s some things, but I think in terms of more seismic changes, I think we’re pretty well set.”

Will Dodgers add starting pitcher?

Shortly after agreeing to terms with Tucker, several reports suggested the Dodgers were making a push to acquire Milwaukee Brewers ace Freddy Peralta. That never transpired as the right-hander was traded to the New York Mets for a package of prospects.

With Peralta heading to the Big Apple, some have wondered if the Dodgers will continue their pursuit of a starting pitcher.

“We are not,” Friedman answered when asked if the Dodgers are in the market for a starter. “Should we be?”

The Dodgers don’t necessarily need another starting pitcher but would have pounced at the opportunity to add an arm of Peralta’s caliber. It’s part of an opportunistic approach that they regularly take when considering potential roster upgrades.

L.A. is set to enter the 2026 season with a starting rotation of Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Emmet Sheehan and Roki Sasaki.
