Former Dodger first baseman Adrián González has been elected to the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame. González will be part of the shrine’s Class of 2025 that includes Dominican Republic stars Bartolo Colon, Miguel Tejada and Julio Franco.
González was acquired by the Dodgers on Aug. 25, 2012, as part of an eight-player trade with the Boston Red Sox. He homered in his first at-bat as a Dodger against the Miami Marlins at Dodger Stadium.
In 735 games with the Dodgers through 2017, González slashed .280/.339/.454/.793 with 101 home runs and 448 RBI. He drove in a career-high 116 runs with Los Angeles in 2014 and represented Los Angeles at the 2015 All-Star Game.
In 2000, González was the №1 overall selection in the MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Marlins out of Eastlake High School in Chula Vista. Overall, González compiled a .287 average in 1,929 games with five teams from 2002 to 2018, including 317 home runs, 1,202 RBI and 997 runs. He was a five-time All-Star and won four Gold Glove Awards and two Silver Slugger Awards.
González is among several former Dodgers who have recently been elected to various Hall of Fames.
The Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame will induct 19 new members, including three former Dodgers: pitcher Ismael Valdéz (1994–2000), infielder Óscar Robles (2005–06) and outfielder Karim García (1995–97).
Former Dodger infielder-outfielder Dick Allen, who hit 23 home runs in 1971 during his lone season with Los Angeles, will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York on July 27.
