The Dodgers lost to the Boston Red Sox by a score of 4-2 at historic Fenway Park on Saturday.
That’s the bad news.
The worse news is that it was 37-year-old Dodgers future first-ballot Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw who suffered the loss to go 4-2 on the season and increase his ERA to an un-Kershaw-like 3.62. Although most Major League pitchers would kill for a 3.62 ERA, it is… well… un-Kershaw-like.
Making his 12th start of the season, the popular Dallas, TX native and Dodgers first-round draft pick in 2006 out of Highland Park High School in Dallas allowed all four Red Sox runs on six hits, while striking out and walking two.
“The strikeouts where normally he’s getting those, when he gets two strikes and good counts, it’s been tough to come by this year,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said postgame of his 11-time All-Star left-hander.

“The second inning was generally not what I needed it to be,” Kershaw told Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal during an in-game in-dugout interview. “Kind of a tough time with a lot of different things. Honestly, after that, the third, fourth, even the fifth, even though I gave up that run, I felt pretty solid with everything. We’ll look at it tomorrow and try and figure out what was going on there in the second. It could have been a super frustrating day. Now, it’s only mildly frustrating.”
How can you not love this guy!

The news wasn’t all bad on Saturday. Dodgers international superstar designated hitter Shohei Ohtani led off the game with a 414-foot home run to center to give the Dodgers a quick 1-0 lead. This was followed two batters later by a 387-foot home run to left by Dodgers right fielder Teoscar Hernández to make it 2-0 Dodgers before the seats were even warm. Unfortunately, the Dodgers went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and stranded seven runners on base after that.

Ohtani’s leadoff home run was his league-leading 38th of the season and his 10th leadoff home run this season. He has also homered in six of his last seven games.
Teo’s blast was his 16th of the season.
