The 2025 MLB Draft starts on Sunday night, with the first three rounds, followed by the remaining 17 rounds on Monday. Most of the focus tends to come with the first round, and this year the Dodgers have two picks in that general area, at 40th and 41st overall.
Over the last few months I’ve been tracking mock drafts from various sources, mostly Baseball America (even their staff drafts, which are more exercises than informed reporting), MLB Pipeline, and ESPN, but also other places. Some mock drafts haven’t been included because they did not project any selections past the traditional “first round” at No. 27, and thus did not have any Dodgers selections.
The two names linked to the Dodgers most often with their first two picks are Louisville pitcher Patrick Forbes and Oaks Christian High School third baseman and outfielder Quentin Young in nearby Westlake Village.
Forbes has been projected to the Dodgers in four different Baseball America mock drafts, plus a few others.
“Forbes has one of the more exciting fastball/slider combinations in the class when he can consistently put them both over the plate,” Carlos Collazo wrote Wednesday. “This has been a common connection for us for months now.”
Keith Law, who has limited his mock drafts a The Athletic to 30 picks at most, noted on Saturday, “I have heard the Los Angeles Dodgers particularly want Louisville right-hander Patrick Forbes, if he should get to their picks at 40-41.”
Earlier this week, Kiley McDaniel at ESPN in his draft overview said of the Dodgers, “This year, they’re tied to the most high-variance prospect in this year’s draft, prep infielder Quentin Young, and a few others who fit later in the draft, such as Mason Ligenza.”
On Friday in his latest mock draft, McDaniel mentioned these as potential Dodgers selections later in the draft: “Keep an eye on James Ellwanger, Shane Sdao and Mason Ligenza as targets at later picks.”
Here’s a compilation of various players linked to the Dodgers at either 40th or 41st overall, over the last four months. Also listed are their current prospect rankings in the draft at both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline.
You can click on the date of each pick to read more, either from a write-up of the player here at True Blue LA, or in some cases to a specific mock draft from the site(s) in question.
