Outfielder spent two weeks on LA’s roster and played for both World Series teams in 2024.
Taylor Trammell started the season in the American League West and by November was back in the division, but in between he played for the two teams that met in the World Series.
The Dodgers claimed the outfielder off waivers from the Mariners on April 2 and activated him a day later, looking for a brief fill-in when Jason Heyward suffered back tightness. But when Heyward’s injury turned out to be a longer-term malady, the Dodgers shifted gears, essentially making Trammell the bridge to Andy Pages.
Trammell was designated for assignment as Seattle finalized its opening day roster on March 28. He was out of options, which limited his time in Los Angeles as well.
Active for 11 games with the Dodgers, Trammell played in five games and started once. He played 10 innings in left field, two innings in right field, was a pinch-runner twice and pinch-hit once. At the plate he was hitless in six at-bats, with three strikeouts.
Pages got clearance for his runway with the Dodger on April 16, and Trammell was designated for assignment to make roster room. Two days later, the Yankees claimed Trammell of waivers, and he remained in the organization through the end of the regular season.
Trammell played in 106 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and got into five games with the Yankees. That put him in the unique position of playing for both World Series teams this season, something Trammell talked about with C. Trent Rosecrans at The Athletic:
“I get a ring now and that’s such a cool thing to say. For me, this is so awesome because I can say I’m a World Series champion now,” Trammell said.
“The next step is to be a World Series champion, and being there when it’s won. That’s the next goal.”
