The Los Angeles Angels have quite a few players that could achieve some milestones in their careers in 2020.
The milestones listed may not all be big numbers, but they are definitely a significant achievement to the player and their families.
1B Albert Pujols
Albert Pujols, has had quite the career and has hit 656 career Home Runs and if he hits 5 Home Runs this season he will pass Willie Mays (660), he will be 5th all-time in Home Runs with only Alex Rodriguez (696), Babe Ruth (714), Hank Aaron (755), and Barry Bonds (762) ahead of him.
Pujols can all be 5th all-time in Doubles as he is at 661 and needs to hit 5 more to pass George Brett (665) who is 6th all-time and 8 more to pass Craig Biggio (668). Pujols would only be behind Ty Cobb (724), Stan Musial (725), Pete Rose (746), and Tris Speaker (792) if he does end up passing both Brett and Biggio.
Albert has currently played 2,823 games and if he plays just 77 games he will make it to 2,900 games. If he plays just 77 games he would jump to 15th all-time in games played.
Pujols could jump into the top 10 in hits if he records 118 hits as he currently sits at 3,202 hits. He would pass Nap Lajoie (3,243), Eddie Murray (3,255), Eddie Collins (3,315), and Paul Molitor (3,319) if he does indeed record 118 hits.
This likely won’t happen this season, but Pujols needs to hit 15 more Sacrifice Flies to become the all-time leader as Eddie Murray has 128. Pujols sits at 114, but 11 people are ahead of him and he will need to have 4 sac flies to jump into the top 10.
SS Andrelton Simmons
Andrelton Simmons has 1,029 hits and with 71 more hits, he will be at 1,100 hits. Simmons also has 181 career Doubles and he could reach 200 with that with 19 Doubles.
3B Anthony Rendon
Anthony Rendon has played 916 games in his career and with 84 more games, he will reach 1,000 games played.
C Jason Castro
Jason Castro currently sits at 86 Home Runs and with 14 more big fly’s he will reach 100 in his career. He also has 292 career RBI and with just 8 more he will reach the 300 RBI mark.
RHP Julio Teheran
Julio Teheran currently has 1,184 career strikeouts and with 16 punch-outs he will reach the 1,200 strikeout’s mark.
OF Justin Upton
Justin Upton can reach 1,700 games played with when he appears in 3 games as he has played in 1,697 games. Much like Mike Trout, he can hit 300 Home Run mark this season as he sits at 298 career homers.
Upton has scored 989 runs and if he scores 11 more times he will have 1,000 career runs. He can also get to the 1,000 RBI mark with 63 runs driven in as he sits at 937 RBI. Even though he is not considered a stolen base threat, he has a chance to have 150 stolen bases in his career with just 3 (147) more swipes.
OF Mike Trout
Mike Trout has 285 career Home Runs and with 15 more homers, he will reach the 300-mark and will pass Angels Hall of Famer Tim Salmon (299) for most all-time in Angels history.
Trout will also reach 1,200 games played with his first game of the season as he sits at 1,199 games played. He can also reach 1,400 hits with 76 hits as he has 1,324 hits in his career.
LHP Patrick Sandoval
Patrick Sandoval, who made his Major-League debut in 2019′ could earn his 1st victory in 2020.
There are plenty of Milestones that are in reach for these players and these achievements can help these players make their cases for a potential Hall of Fame case down the road or show that they made it to the big leagues.
