Can black-and-gold put themselves in best position for Decision Day?
The games are always big, as Bob Bradley says, but for LAFC, Tuesday’s clash at The Banc against the Vancouver Whitecaps is their biggest game of the 2021 season to date. With both teams battling to earn a playoff spot, this is a true six-pointer.
LAFC are on a five-game unbeaten streak and have had a week of rest, most recently beating the Seattle Sounders 3-0 last Tuesday in what may have been their best performance of the season so far. Cristian Arango remains in form and the team is on its best collective form of the season. If they can pick up two wins to close the regular season, that should book their ticket to the postseason, but they need the victories.
The Whitecaps sit three points ahead of them in the standings, meaning this is a real “six-pointer” for both teams, and they are both very much going to be up for it. If the Whitecaps, who have been in blistering form under interim boss Vanni Sartini, get the win in this game, they will basically be in the postseason, and LAFC’s window will be very small on Sunday. So this is a major clash for both teams.
For LAFC, Eduard Atuesta (injury/personal reasons) remains out, alongside Eddie Segura (ACL), Erik Dueñas (ACL), Francisco Ginella (knee), Kwadwo Opoku (knee), Julian Gaines (pelvis) and Alvaro Quezada (chest). The Whitecaps will be missing Caio Alexandre (foot fracture) and Tosaint Ricketts (calf).
Can LAFC get the needed win? Or will they trip up at the penultimate hurdle? This is a must-see occasion, hopefully the home side gets three points on Tuesday night.
Odds:
According to our partners at DraftKings Sportsbook, as of Tuesday morning, LAFC are (-190), Vancouver are (+550) and a draw is (+340), so LAFC are enormous favorites once again. Hopefully they can come through with a good win.
