The Galaxy failed to bring clarity to their postseason chase, settling for a draw in Seattle
The LA Galaxy may not have been able to clinch the playoffs with a win on the road tonight, but three points, against one of the conference’s best teams, would make Decision Day a whole lot less anxious. A loss, would leave them not only needing a win Sunday, but possibly needing help to keep their season alive. However, for the third straight match, the G’s failed to do enough to put themselves in a more comfortable position, with the match against the Seattle Sounders ending in a 1-1 draw.
The first half was one of the more lively halves we’ve seen from the Galaxy in recent matches. They came out looking for the early goal, and momentum, on the road. In just the 19th minute, they found what they were looking for. A perfect ball sent into the box from the corner kick, as put in the vicinity of Chicharito, who netted his 15th goal in the season with a wicked heel flick into the corner, on the good side of the post.

The half ended fairly even, despite the visitors taking the lead into the break. The Galaxy finished with slightly more possession at 51%, with both team finishing the half with four shots each. The second half got off to a rocky start for LA. A penalty ruled in favor of the home side, gave them a perfect opportunity to level proceedings in just the 50th minute. Raul Ruidiaz hit the visitors with the Panenka, which gave them the equalizer.

The Galaxy did well to avoid a complete collapse, but once again failed to get a win that would go a long way in making their spot in the postseason, more certain. As it stands after the draw, the Galaxy sit in sixth place, with both Vancouver and Real Salt Lake having a game in hand. The Whitecaps play rivals LAFC, tomorrow, while RSL are in action Wednesday. For the G’s, they face a Minnesota United squad that sits just one point above them. Luckily, they will be at home, where they look to get into the postseason, once and for all.
