How to Watch LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake: Lineups, odds, game thread

August 4, 2021 by LAG Confidential Leave a Comment

MLS: LA Galaxy at Real Salt Lake
Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports

Can LA keep rolling at home?

After a rousing win last week, the LA Galaxy are back in action on Wednesday when they host Real Salt Lake at Dignity Health Sports Park.

The Galaxy are coming off their biggest win of the season, a 4-1 romp over the Portland Timbers. While it looked like it could be a long night, when they conceded as soon as they scored their opener, a fantastic game from Julian Araujo in particular powered LA into being by far the best team on the night, and they got the big win.

RSL are unbeaten in their last three games, drawing two (including the recent 2-2 against the Galaxy) and winning the other one. I have to admit, RSL seems to have one of the weakest rosters on paper but they are battling and in the thick of the playoff race, and it would be silly to write them off out of hand.

Chicharito and Victor Vazquez are both listed as questionable for this game for LA, but Greg Vanney seemed to indicate both players were unlikely to play in this game. Justen Glad is suspended for RSL, while David Ochoa, Andrew Brody and Zack Farnsworth are all listed out injured for the visitors.

I think we could see some or all of the Galaxy’s returning internationals in this game, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they got a game off before jumping in the fray at the weekend. Still, with a more complete squad I think things are looking up, and of course, the shorthanded group had a great win, so let’s see if they can do it again.

Odds:

According to our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook, as of Tuesday afternoon, LA are (-105), RSL are (+255) and a draw is at (+295). So the Galaxy are favorites at home, but both teams have a shot in this one.

How to Watch:

Wednesday’s match between LA and RSL will be televised locally on Spectrum Sportsnet and streamed in the rest of the United States on ESPN+. The TV broadcast is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm PT with kickoff to follow at 7:38 pm.
