Can the Galaxy get back in the thick of the fight for first place in the Western Conference?
Coming off a big draw against their rivals, and a week’s rest, the LA Galaxy look to re-insert themselves in the conversation as best in the West, as they hit the road to take on the Colorado Rapids on Saturday afternoon.
After a brief slide, the dramatic draw on the road, albeit across town, could serve as the catalyst the team needs. In truth, what they really needed was time to get healthy, and they got that as well. After a weekend without a match day, the Galaxy prepare for a three match in seven day stretch. The Rapids are in the midst of a seven-match unbeaten run, one of those wins at the expense of the Galaxy in Los Angeles. Now, LA can get a little revenge, as well as pull within two points of the second place Rapids, with a win.
Earlier this week Galaxy Head Coach Greg Vanney revealed Chicharito is all set for his return to the pitch. Whether he gets the nod in the Starting XI, or comes on as a sub for some minutes is yet to be seen. The Rapids will be without Jack Price who is serving a suspension for yellow card accumulation, and Younes Namli, who is out with injury.
This match should be a good one. The Rapids will look to separate themselves from the pack, as well as keep pace with Conference leaders, Seattle Sounders. The Galaxy, can come within fingertips of first place with a road win today. Even if it’s only for a few minutes, having Chicharito back on the pitch will be a huge boost, and could be the needed spark.
Odds:
According to our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook, as of Friday evening LA are (+310), Colorado is (-115), and a draw is at (+285). This means the Galaxy will once again be big underdogs on the road, which isn’t surprising given how well Colorado have been as of late.
How to Watch:
