When it comes to who should replace Frank Vogel as the head coach of the Lakers, Kenny “The Jet” Smith has one name in mind.
“Mark Jackson, he knows how to handle that kind of environment,” Smith told TMZ Sports.

“He put the Warriors in contention of what they are. The way they play, their style of play. Steph Curry owes a lot to his career, because before Mark got there, Steph Curry wouldn’t even play in 4th quarters. We wouldn’t think he was a great player, a great defender,” the “Inside” commentator continued.
Smith’s line of thinking reportedly matches up well with LeBron James’. It’s been said that the Lakers star would prefer LA hire Mark Jackson as its next head coach.
“Mark Jackson could coach the Lakers to a championship, for sure,” The Jet concluded.
Did Frank Vogel put together the Lakers’ roster — one with only one player in his prime and neither that guy, Anthony Davis, nor LeBron James could stay healthy? It’s a joke that the coach who won a championship two years ago pays the price for other people’s failures.

Frank Vogel was fired after three seasons running the Lake Show. Over that span, he helped lead Los Angeles to its first title since the 2010 season.
However, a disastrous past year that saw the Lakers finish 33-49 and miss the playoffs/play-in, ultimately did the former Pacers coach in.
According to reports, Michigan head coach Juwan Howard is also being considered for the Lakers’ opening. But given the instability of the franchise dating back to the early 2010s; it’s really anyone’s guess which direction Jeanie Buss and the “Rambi” will go.
