The Ducks bolstered their organizational depth with four free-agent signings Thursday, including journeyman defenseman Greg Pateryn, a veteran of 280 games in the NHL with the San Jose Sharks, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild, Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens.
Pateryn, 31, and right wing Buddy Robinson each signed one-year, two-way contracts. Pateryn will make $750,000 in the NHL and $300,000 if he plays for the Ducks’ AHL team, the San Diego Gulls. Robinson’s contract will pay him $750,000 in the NHL and $400,000 in the AHL.
In addition, the Ducks also signed defenseman Brogan Rafferty to a one-year, $750,000 one-way contract and left wing Danny O’Regan to a two-year, two-way contract ($750,000/$450,000).
Robinson, 29, has played 30 games with the Calgary Flames and Ottawa Senators during his career; Rafferty, 26, has played three games with the Vancouver Canucks; and O’Regan, 27, has played 25 games with the Sharks and Buffalo Sabres.
In other news, former Ducks left wing Danton Heinen signed a one-season, $1.1-million contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Heinen, 26, was to become a restricted free agent Wednesday, but the Ducks did not give him a qualifying offer Monday and he became an unrestricted free agent.
