Sony Michel trotted onto the practice field Thursday for his first practice with the Los Angeles Rams. He didn’t take part in team drills or play in the scrimmage, but he was doing individual work and getting acclimated.
He was also wearing No. 14, an odd number choice for a running back – even with the league’s new rules expanding the choices skill players have. But that may not be a permanent jersey number for the former Patriots running back.
He shared his first post on Instagram as a member of the Rams, with photos from his first day in Thousand Oaks. He also teased a potential number change, writing “we’ll talk about that later.”
With the Rams needing to cut their roster down to 53 players by Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, there are sure to be a lot of new numbers available. So perhaps Michel is just waiting for the roster to sort itself out before picking a number for the regular season.
