The Los Angeles Rams will take the field to start the regular season against the Chicago Bears seven days from today. Here’s an update on the Rams top 3 draft picks of 2021 and where they stand now one week away from the opener.
Round 2, Pick number 57 – Tutu Atwell
Atwell was a featured player in the preseason, getting reps at both receiver and punt returner. He led the league in targets after the second week of the preseason. He also demonstrated reliable hands having also led the league in terms of targets without a dropped pass. At this point, Atwell has secured his spot on the 53 man roster and is set to provide the Rams some depth and versatility at the receiver position and may be revealed as the 2021 punt return man.
Round 3, Pick 103 – Earnest Jones
Jones had a decent preseason taking most of the reps at inside linebacker. He has demonstrated the ability to handle the playbook at least for the preseason set and also the ability to lead as he took on the ‘green dot’ play relay responsibilities for at least one of the games. As an added layer, during the game defensive coordinator Raheem Morris admitted to having been pushing the wrong button on the head set which meant Jones was actually calling the plays for the first series.
Round 4, Pick 117 – Bobby Brown III
Brown has made the 53 man roster and will provide depth to an interior line position that will start with Sebastian Joseph Day, Aaron Donald, and A’Shawn Robinson. Brown had a highlight moment to start the preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders with a solid tackle for a loss to set the tone for the game.
