The Los Angeles Rams suffered another tough loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3 after Joshua Karty’s potential game-winning field goal was blocked.
Karty had an opportunity to attempt the kick after Matthew Stafford led his team down the field and into range.
The veteran quarterback didn’t have the best game by his standards as he threw an interception on the opening drive and was off with his accuracy in general. He completed 19 of his 33 passes for a season-low 196 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite his struggles, Stafford said he is sticking to the same game plan and does not see the need to make any drastic changes, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
“No reset. Just continue to do what I always do,” Stafford said Wednesday. “Know that those kind of days are going to happen, frustrating when it happens, but was able to kind of get it going and feeling better. That two-minute drive, was putting the ball right where I wanted to every time, for the most part. So just continue to throw, trust the process, trust what I do to get ready week in and week out and go play.”
Stafford knows it’s a long season and won’t dwell on one loss as there are many more games to be played:
“I don’t try to think too much about it,” Stafford said. “Just go back to doing what I always do, work the way I always work. Understand that, you go to an NBA game, you watch guys shoot the ball, best shooters in the world, the guys that can make it every time, and sometimes they have nights where it doesn’t go down, and maybe they got to get to the hole a little bit more and find different ways to score. So it happens. I’m not too worried about it.”
Stafford is in his 17th NFL season and has had bad games before, so he won’t let his performance against the Eagles get to him.
The 37-year-old has already moved on from the loss and will now look to get back on track when the Rams host the undefeated Indianapolis Colts in Week 4.

After the Los Angeles Rams’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Matthew Stafford discussed the mentality he wants his team to take moving forward.
“Learn from it. There’s so many other plays in this game that we can learn from and be better,” Stafford told reporters postgame. “First and foremost, myself. Disappointed with how I threw it in some instances today. Just go back to it, continue to work hard and know that what you’re doing and the process that we’re doing is the right thing and find ways to win games.”
