Quarterback Matthew Stafford is in his first training camp with the Los Angeles Rams after joining them via a trade earlier this offseason. But the impact he’s already having on the team appears to be huge.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Rams linebacker Leonard Floyd said that Stafford has been making things tougher for the defense. As a result, Floyd feels that Stafford is making the unit better overall.
“I noticed it,” Floyd said, via ProFootballTalk. “I think it’s Matthew. He [is] a veteran quarterback, so he [is] making it [a] little tougher at practice and that ain’t doing nothing but making us better on defense.”
As for Stafford’s throwing, Floyd said that the Rams QB has been “dropping dimes”. Floyd pointed out that he knows from his previous years with the Chicago Bears just how good he is and isn’t surprised that he’s this good.
“He’s been dropping dimes, really,” Floyd said. “He was in the same division when I was with Chicago, so I pretty much know. Yeah, he’s really good.”

It’s a good thing the Rams are seeing so much quality football out of Matthew Stafford this early. They paid a small fortune to the Lions to pry him from Detroit.
The Rams gave up a 2021 third-round pick and two first-round picks in 2022 and 2023 along with quarterback Jared Goff to bring him into the fold.
With Stafford as their new quarterback, the Rams must expect to be making a deep playoff run or win a title this year.
Fortunately for them, the early results look very promising.
