There’s little intrigue and excitement on Sunday, as LA is proving to be far better than Houston
I do not think that this is a good football game to watch, but the LA Rams are up 24-0 at halftime against a Houston Texans team that should be fined and penalized for tanking without discretion. Third round rookie quarterback Davis Mills, starting for Tyrod Taylor once again as the better QB continues to stay on injured reserve with a strained hamstring, has been no match for this defense.
And that will contribute to the Rams having one of the top-ranked defenses in the NFL—a rare shutout seems like more probable than not, but Houston missed a 45-yard field goal as the first half expired—when the dust is settled. However, this will not give us any clues into whether or not the Rams defense can hold against offenses with more professional football players.
Matthew Stafford is 16-of-25 for 195 yards with two touchdowns, but he could probably have four or five touchdowns with some slight adjustments. The fact that Stafford and Cooper Kupp and Sean McVay are probably even a little disappointed with how they played in the first half says all you need to know about the state of the Texans.
Will LA allow any points in the second half?
Will John Wolford make an appearance before the fourth quarter?
Darrell Henderson has 12 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown, and he’s also caught a touchdown. Cooper Kupp has five catches for 98 yards. Ernest Jones has his first career interception. Donte’ Deayon should have been credited with an interception, but Jones was called for hands to the face.
Talk about the second half right here—and upvote your favorite comments because we aren’t going to get as much excitement generated in this game in the next 30 minutes. Let’s do our best to keep “up” despite Houston’s clear intent to stay down.
