Could Ol’ Man Rivers be back in the NFL by the end of the season?
Following his lone season with the Colts in 2020, longtime Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers finally made the choice to hang up his cleats and pursue his other childhood dream of coaching high school football just like his father.
However, Rivers has yet to go through with his plans to retire as a Charger because he’s still keeping the door open for a potential return. During the offseason, Rivers told Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times that he’s not ruling anything out.
In light of the Saints losing starting quarterback Jameis Winston for the season, Farmer reached out to Rivers to touch base on whether or not Sean Payton has come calling. Apparently, no one from the Saints has reached out just yet, but Rivers would be willing to listen if they did.
On a recent radio appearance, Rivers said he’s been staying “somewhat ready” just in case, but there’s “nothing to” any of the Saints speculation.
Would anyone here want to see Rivers make a comeback to finish the year? Or would you rather minimize the amount of teams Rivers plays for before he’s officially retired? Let us know what you think below.
Philip Rivers tells me he hasn’t heard from the Saints but would listen.
