The former Bolts first-round pick lands back in the division.
Prior to today’s trade deadline, at least one other team in the AFC West is making a move to improve their chances at a Super Bowl run.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Steelers are trading former Chargers edge rusher Melvin Ingram to the Chiefs in exchange for a sixth-round pick in next year’s draft. Ingram, who signed with the Steelers as a free agent this offseason, has played in six games for Pittsburgh with one start. In those games he’s totaled 10 tackles, two for loss, and one sack.

In 2020, Melvin Ingram “held in” with the Chargers to ensure he got the money he felt he deserved before playing out the final year of his contract. The former first-round pick received a full-guaranteed $14 million from the Chargers, but proceeded to finish the season with zero tackles for loss or sacks. Understandably so, the Bolts weren’t compelled to keep him around any longer.
Looking at his short stint with Steelers, it’s probably safe to assume Ingram won’t make a huge impact with the Chiefs. However, seeing him in that red and gold will still likely make more than one Chargers fan cringe.
