Colin Cowherd Ranks NFL’s Top 10 Teams Before Training Camp

July 27, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

FOX Sports 1 host Colin Cowherd.

As NFL teams from across the league kickoff training camp practices this week, excitement for the 2021 season is beginning to heat up.

And on Tuesday’s edition of The Herd w/ Colin Cowherd, the Fox Sports analyst gave his list of top 10 NFL teams at this point in the year.

The list goes as follows:

  • 10. San Francisco 49ers
  • 9. Los Angeles Rams
  • 8. Indianapolis Colts
  • 7. Los Angeles Chargers
  • 6. Cleveland Browns
  • 5. Baltimore Ravens
  • 4. Seattle Seahawks
  • 3. Buffalo Bills
  • 2. Kansas City Chiefs
  • 1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The top two teams on Colin Cowherd’s list should come as no surprise: the reigning Super Bowl champion Bucs and their runner-up opponent Chiefs.

For the first time ever in the modern draft era, the defending champions will return all 22 starters from a Super Bowl victory. With a fully-reloaded roster and a Tom Brady/Bruce Arians QB-coach combo, there’s no reason to believe Tampa Bay should regress in 2021.

With returning talent abound at all offensive skill positions, the story for the Chiefs really falls on the offensive line heading into 2021. Though the Kansas City front office seems to have made some significant improvements on the line, Cowherd believes it will take the new unit some time to gel — hence their No. 2 ranking.

Coming in at No. 3 is a new player in the elite class of NFL teams. Cowherd says Buffalo “may very well win the Super Bowl” in 2021 due to 21 of 22 returning starters and the addition of Emmanuel Sanders on the wide receiver corps. The Bills are coming off their best season in years through 2020, making a trip to the conference finals behind the stellar play of up-and-coming superstar Josh Allen.

The Los Angeles Rams, who Cowherd now has pegged at No. 9, were once considered Super Bowl contenders in their own right. But, with the recent season-ending injury to running back Cam Akers, those hopes have now severely diminished.

Every team from the NFC East and NFC North were left out of Cowherd’s top 10.

What do you think of this list?
