The Brandon Staley era is here.
The Brandon Staley era for the Los Angeles Chargers has begun.
Justin Herbert threw for 337 yards and a score, Keenan Allen caught nine passes for 100 yards, and the Chargers managed to hang on in a back-and-forth bout with the Washington Football Team to win 20-16 in Staley’s first game as an NFL head coach.

It was almost another flawless game for the second-year signal caller but a deep out route throw got away from him just enough to land into the arms of a Washington corner. Otherwise, this was a clean game by the offense.
Austin Ekeler finished with 57 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. Surprisingly, he caught zero passes on the day.
Kenneth Murray led the defense with 10 total tackles and Derwin James was second with seven. Joey Bosa recorded the team’s only sack of the day.
The Chargers will host their home opener next week as they welcome the Dallas Cowboys to SoFi Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:25 p.m.
