College football is back, as there are five games on the schedule this Saturday for Week 0.
The first game of the 2021 season will feature two Big Ten programs in Nebraska and Illinois. There’s a lot of pressure on Scott Frost to deliver this fall, so it’s imperative the Cornhuskers start this campaign on the right foot.
Shortly after the Nebraska-Illinois game kicks off, UConn will take on Fresno State on the road. The Bulldogs are overwhelming favorites in this one, and standout running back Ronnie Rivers should have a stellar performance.
Believe it or not, the most intriguing matchup on the Week 0 schedule features Hawaii and UCLA. Chip Kelly hasn’t won a non-conference game since taking over as the head coach of the Bruins. Perhaps this will be the year that he stops that skid.
Football fans who don’t mind staying up late can check out the final two games on the schedule for this Saturday. UTEP will take on New Mexico State, and then Southern Utah will square off against San Jose State.
Here’s the full schedule:
Nebraska vs. Illinois – 1:20 p.m. ET on FOX
UConn vs. Fresno State – 2:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network
Hawaii vs. UCLA – 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN
UTEP vs. New Mexico State – 9:30 p.m. ET on FloFootball
Southern Utah vs. San Jose State – 10:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network
This weekend will serve as an appetizer for college football fans, with the main course officially arriving next Saturday.
