The Los Angeles Lakers continue their trek to get as much talent as possible for next season. Kyle Kuzma has remained the centerpiece for most talks. His contract next season starts at $13 million, a reasonable and matchable salary.
The Athletics Shams Charania reported that the Lakers and Sacramento Kings have recently spoken. These were the details of the conversation:
The Lakers and Sacramento Kings have discussed a deal centered on guard Buddy Hield, sources tell The Athletic. Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma would be involved in a potential package, per sources. The Lakers have received interest from several teams regarding Kuzma, sources said.
With the draft approaching on Thursday night, these talks will likely reemerge. Kuzma is looking for a bigger role going forward. Hield spent some of last season in and out of the starting lineup. Both players have been in flux and could use a change of scenery. Kuz would be reuniting with Luke Walton, the Kings Head Coach. Hield worked out for the Lakers prior to the 2016 NBA Draft.
The deal will have to include more parts since Hield makes $23.5 million. This brings the pending decision of Montrezl Harrell’s opt-in into play. His $9.5 million salary makes this deal workable for both sides. Harrell has until July 31st to make his decision.
