Luckily for them, they can match any offer that Horton-Tucker gets. On the flip side, the Russell Westbrook trade would signal the end of Schröder’s time as a Laker. The question is who and how much will be thrown at the two.
Last season was THT’s first time in an NBA rotation. He finished with 9 points and 2.8 assists per game. Many teams could use his services. The second rounder is young, and his proposed deal wouldn’t be a killer. The talent level will naturally improve with each game he is playing.
Dennis Schröder is in a more unique position. It was reported that he turned down a four year, $84 million deal. Schröder had a tough end to the season as he finished with averages of 15.4 points and 5.8 assists.
Jake Fisher of Bleacher Report says that there is one team sniffing around both THT and Schröder:
The Knicks are mentioned by league sources as a team that has expressed interest in Fournier, while New York has also been linked to Lakers guards Dennis Schroder and Talen Horton-Tucker.
The Knicks have the ability to sign either player outright with their cap space. A sign and trade could be possible for Schröder, but it would be extremely complicated between both teams. Hopefully the Lakers will be able to walk away happy at the end of both player’s free agencies.
