Frank Vogel said this game as much as any this year was a Laker basketball type of win.

“An identity win.”

Anthony Davis and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope both returned and it paid dividends. Tonight’s game was never close, with the Laker going up by as much as 27 points in the second half. The win put them at 8-3, the NBA’s best record.
Christian Wood circled his matchup against The Brow and got his wish. Davis led the Lakers with 27 points on a ridiculous 75 percent shooting. Whether it was jumpers or lobs, AD had it all working. Wood got his close-up and hopefully, it’s a light touch to put in perspective how monstrous AD can be. LeBron James added 18 points as well.
Talen Horton-Tucker continues to show he’s a rotation player. He finished the night with a career-high of 17 points on 87.5 percent shooting. Amidst his offense, he had a few nice steals on James Harden and other Rockets’ perimeter guys. It’s safe to say that the preseason leap is very real.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope looks like he’s shaken off the effects of an ankle injury. He was able to play 22 minutes tonight and finished with seven points. Montrezl Harrell also had a great night off the bench. He put up 16 points and eight rebounds.
The Lakers will be back in action on Tuesday at 5 PM PST/8 PM EST.
